I remember unmistakably the day we started writing ‘Wave of Passion’ with a group of amazing songwriters, whom I found had such a great connection and very energetic spirits!

Verse

A praise line broke out as one writer began to sing: ‘I can feel it burning deep inside my bones’. In Jeremiah 20:9 it says: ‘If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.’ It’s important to share the Word of God, to testify about Jesus! We don’t want to keep it in and stay silent about His message. We said it’s not just left at a moment with God or a song that we sing to Him but it’s the zeal that we live out.

Hebrews 12:29 speaks about the fire of God in our lives: ‘Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. For our God is a consuming fire.’ We feel God’s fire stirs us to do things for His Kingdom, it ignites a passion within us to dance, to praise and worship in awe, to love on God and to be used by God. Hence why we said: ‘I feel a wave of passion crashing over me’.

One writer started tapping a groovy beat, with another strumming some chords on his guitar and I began to sing: ‘I can feel Your fire stirring up my soul’. The song came as an outlet of the passion we feel about God, to praise Him and to experience all of Him. We read in Romans 12:11 ‘do not let your zeal subside’ and to be on ‘fire in the spirit’.

In creating a chorus we looked at the scripture in Ezekiel 47:3-5 which talks about going into the river at different levels, starting with the ankle-deep, knee-deep or completely. This represents our spiritual depth. Wouldn’t we rather want to give everything to Jesus, not being luke-warm but fully committed? We want to swim in the deep not stand in ankle-deep waters. This lead to the chorus which says: ‘I am diving, into Your Living water’ to be saturated and we do believe that God is faithful when we stand fully surrendered to His ways. The living water is the river-flow from the throne of God representing how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. Look at the Way Smith Wigglesworth summed things up: ‘All of me-none of God; less of me-more of God; none of me-all of God!’. We choose ‘None of me less of God.’

From time to time, we don’t want to ‘overcommit’ or go all-in with God. Perhaps His truths seem like they will require too much from us. We are scared to disappoint God and ourselves if we go ‘all in’ and for some reason, can’t ‘keep up’. For someone newly saved, it could be that joining a Church and making Christian friends is overwhelming, uncomfortable and scary. For someone else, it could be overwhelming to make a decision that requires sacrifice. And so we need to remember to allow God to lead us. We don’t need to be afraid, we can courageously dive into God’s living waters and He will uphold us. We don’t have to be afraid to disappoint, as Jesus has paid the price for us, His grace empowers us to live as Christians and His mercy embraces us when we fall. In His presence, there is awe-inspiring love. We don’t need to stay in the shallow waters, we can go out into the deep and when Jesus calls us to walk on the water in faith, with Him, we need not fear!

Bridge

The bridge is a praise declaration of blessings God gives us that sustain us through darkness, thirstiness and the need for direction. God wants our hearts to align with his and for us to have His heartbeat. In being passionate about Jesus we sing that we feel His heartbeat and that ours beats along with His. We know that sharing His heartbeat will always give us direction on how to live in Gods ways.  We also sing: ‘I’ve got a light in the dark of the night, I’ve got a river that will never run dry’,  which is partially based on John 8:12: ‘Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Once You are in the deepwater you realize that the passion for God and the fire of God can never be tamed neither can His promises be withheld from you. It is so amazing that the King of Heaven and the Earth gives us these promises. With this praise track, we trust that a new, more passionate praise is going to break out from many people both young and old, saying: ‘God, I am ready to go all-in.’
